atelier gras: eethuis
Atelier gras has designed ‘eethuis’, an edible green house in Appeltern, the netherlands.
Charmingly translated to literally mean, ‘eat house’, the project consists of plastic produce crates,mesh and packed soil to grow vegetables along its structure.
Serial tech entrepreneur and PodPonics creator Matt Liotta’s urban “farm” is in fact the razed site of former rough-trade Ponce de Leon gay bar, the Phoenix, hunkering between the gritty Ponce Hotel and a car wash in the Old Fourth Ward. There, Liotta, age 32, has parked four metal shipping containers (which he plans to soon blow up to 25) more typically seen on the back of freight trains. These postindustrial mother ships nurture PodPonics’ crop of spinach, arugula, romaine, Bibb and buttercrunch lettuces.
